Details have emerged of a US military campaign against suspected al-Qaeda leaders in Somalia with the assistance of Ethiopia, according to officials. The officials said that American AC-130 gunships flew from an airstrip in eastern Ethiopia on at least two occasions in January to attack Islamic fighters in southern Somalia. Previous statements from the Pentagon suggested attacks were only launched from a US base in Djibouti against target sites in and around Kismayo in southern Somalia. Full Story
