Guinea’s government reduced a curfew imposed under martial law this week by six hours a day on Sunday, after a decline in violent protests against President Lansana Conte’s 23-year rule. “Taking account of the discipline observed … I have decided to reduce the curfew to 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting from Monday, February 19th,” Army Chief of Staff Kerfala Camara said on state television.
