Poultry farms around Moscow were under tight control on Saturday as animal health officials determined whether the deadly H5N1 strain was responsible for the Russian capital’s first outbreak of bird flu. Russia’s animal and plant health watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, expected results by Sunday evening from tests on dead birds found in two villages near Moscow, said Nikolai Vlasov, the agency’s head of veterinary surveillance.
