The South African government has cautioned that an early withdrawal of peacekeepers from the Democratic Republic of Congo could reverse gains made since the end of a five-year war in 2003. “The countries of Africa must remain engaged with the DRC whether they like it or not because failure there means absence of stability for very many countries, for Africa as a matter of fact,” Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota told reporters in Cape Town Wednesday.
