The United States and South Korea need to speed up talks this week on a free-trade pact to finish before a looming legal deadline at the end of March, the chief U.S. negotiator said on Sunday. “We’re hoping we can come out of this week with significant progress that can lead to a permanent deal over the course of the next six or seven weeks,” Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Wendy Cutler told reporters as beefed-up teams of more than 200 negotiators each began a seventh round of talks on the proposed trade agreement.
