Suspected militants shot dead five people, including government officials and security personnel, in an ambush in India’s restive northeastern state of Manipur, police said. The attack took place Friday morning in Ukhrul district, some 80 kilometres (50 miles) northeast of state capital Imphal, when heavily armed militants strategically positioned on a hillock fired at a convoy, Dorji Lattu, police chief of the area told AFP.
