South Korea’s ruling Uri Party is teetering toward possible collapse as 23 lawmakers quit to create a new political outfit, thrusting President Roh Moo-Hyun’s group into a minority ahead of elections in December. “With our deep regret and apology to the public, which is against the Uri Party, we are determined to give up our current power and become a seed to form a new united party,” Lee Jong-Gul, one of the legislators, told a press conference.
