Bangladesh’s interim government has asked the army to remain on the streets for as long as necessary to enforce a state of emergency while new elections are organised, a spokesman said. “The cabinet decided to keep the armed forces in aid of the civilian administration for as long as it takes during the emergency,” government spokesman Abdullah Al Shahin said.
