Canada will implement an “eManifest” system to try to speed up and make safer the flow of goods across the U.S. border in what is the world’s richest trading relationship. Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day announced on Friday funding of C$396 million ($338 million) over five years, under which highway and rail carriers would submit cargo and crew information electronically before arriving at the border. “This will allow the CBSA (the Canada Border Services Agency) to have the right information at the right time in order to make informed decisions,” a government statement said.
