A British soldier, accused of spying for Iran whilst working as an interpreter for NATO’s commander in Afghanistan, is a “patriot,” his lawyer told a London court on Friday. Corporal Daniel James, 44, who was a translator for NATO’s General David Richards after being sent to Afghanistan in March last year, is accused of breaching Britain’s Official Secrets Act by passing on secrets to an “enemy,” Iran.
