Brazil’s federal government will shortly send a national security force of military policemen to Rio de Janeiro state to curb gang violence that killed about 20 people in the city of Rio, Rio state’s governor said on Wednesday. Gov. Sergio Cabral Filho gave no exact time for the deployment of the military policemen, but said that he would also request the additional support of federal troops to curb the violence that surged last week in the tourist and business center.
