Sudan has said it responded “favourably” to a UN plan to prop up struggling African troops in war-torn Darfur but stopped short of explicitly accepting the UN peacekeepers urged by the international community. “We cannot reveal the exact contents of the reply before it reaches Kofi Annan,” the head of the foreign ministry’s peace department, Sadek al-Mulki, was quoted as saying by the official SUNA news agency Sunday.
