The United Nations is to send a special envoy to Sudan to coordinate assistance to the embattled African Union force deployed in war-torn Darfur, state media have reported. Outgoing UN Secretary General Kofi Annan “said he wanted to dispatch a UN under secretary, Ahmadou Ould Abdallah, to discuss with the government means of providing the support decided in Abuja,” the Akhbar Al-Yom daily said Monday.
