Unidentified gunmen killed 22 civilians and wounded 10 others near a village in the region of Darfur in western Sudan on Saturday, the African Union said. Noureddine Mezni, the AU spokesman in Sudan, said on Sunday that the gunmen attacked a commercial vehicle near the village of Sirba, 45 km (30 miles) north of El Geneina, capital of West Darfur state and close to the Sudan-Chad border.
