Dozens of people were hospitalised and 3,000 abandoned their homes on Tuesday after chemical waste was dumped near a river in a town north of the Philippine capital, Manila, local officials and police said. Residents of Marilao woke up to foul-smelling fumes which forced 60 people to nearby hospitals due to dizziness, nausea and chest pains.
