Turkish PM agrees to meet Pope

TURKISH Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has agreed to meet Pope Benedict XVI when he arrives in Ankara tomorrow – a move warmly welcomed by the Vatican as a vote of confidence in the potentially volatile visit. Mr Erdogan will meet the head of the Roman Catholic Church at Ankara airport just after the Pope’s arrival and shortly before his own departure to Riga for a NATO summit, said his spokesman Mehmet Akif Beki.
