The Iraqi government extended a ban on vehicles in Baghdad for a third day but it will be lifted on Monday morning, the government spokesman said on Saturday. Ali al-Dabbagh told state television that the curfew, imposed late on Thursday after devastating bombings in the Shi’ite stronghold of Sadr City, would continue for vehicles on Sunday but would end at 6 a.m. (0300 GMT) on Monday, when a normal overnight curfew usually ends.
