PRO-DEMOCRACY advocates in riot-torn Tonga have accused Australian and New Zealand forces of supporting the political structure that touched off last week’s deadly violence. International flights resumed to the Pacific nation today, a day after an Australian RAAF jet evacuated about 50 mainly Australian people from the Pacific nation. Australia and New Zealand sent a combined contingent of 150 troops and police to Tonga on the weekend, after protesters demanding action on democratic reforms rampaged through the capital Nuku’alofa on Thursday.
