Ugandan police used tear gas, water-cannon and dogs to disperse a meeting of opposition supporters on Saturday, their leader said. Kizza Besigye, who heads the main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), said a meeting in Kampala to launch new party identity cards was abruptly broken up. “The ugly head of police brutality, fascism and harassment of FDC was reared once again as police unleashed terror, tear gas, water cannons, police dogs and beating,” Besigye told supporters at his party’s headquarters.
