Australia is considering whether to send troops to restore order in Tonga after gangs rampaged through the capital yesterday, wrecking the Prime Minister’s office, public buildings and shops. Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said last night he had spoken to Tongan Prime Minister Feleti Sevele during the afternoon about the violence in the Pacific nation. “He would like us to keep a close eye on the situation there and we will speak again tomorrow,” Mr Downer said.
