Political tension rose in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday night as the authorities warned they would clear a tent settlement set up by protesters six days ago in the centre of the capital Bishkek. The protesters are demanding the resignation of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, and reforms on the constitution to empower parliament.
