In a new thread to the North Korean bomb saga, arguments over Japan’s nuclear ambitions are becoming the focus as prominent politicians from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) continue to raise the issue. LDP Policy Research Council chairman Shoichi Nakagawa has repeatedly called for such a debate. His latest comments Sunday, urging a broad discussion of the option, followed statements last week that Japan’s pacifist constitution doesn’t preclude nuclear arms.
