Scores of schools in Thailand’s restive Muslim-majority south have been closed, a day after a bomb blast and a string of shootings left six people dead, local officials said. The closures also followed suspected arson attacks on four schools in Yala, one of three southern provinces where separatist violence and other unrest has escalated despite moves toward peace by Thailand’s new military-backed government.
