Maoists bomb railways, kill trader as strike begins

Maoist rebels in eastern India blew up rail tracks and a government building, and killed a shopkeeper on Monday as a regional 24-hour strike called by the guerrillas began. Buses were off the roads in rural parts of Jharkhand, one of three Maoist-affected eastern states hit by the stoppage, called to protest the arrest of rebel leaders, including a woman commander, earlier this month.
