Islamic militiamen seized another town near the government’s base in Somalia, but one of the group’s leaders dispelled fears that an attack was imminent, saying Thursday it would attend peace talks next week in Sudan. Meanwhile, the government claimed that three of its lawmakers were kidnapped by members of the Islamic militia about 20 miles outside Baidoa, the only town under weak government controls.
