A leading think tank forecasts foreign tourists–as many as 3.4 million–will likely visit Thailand during the last quarter of 2006 as they are more confident in the kingdom’s stability after the September 19 bloodless coup d’tat, thanks to the interim government’s campaign to clarify the situation to the world community. Kasikorn Research Centre said in its report that the projected increase of 3.4 million foreign tourists, up 2 per cent from the same period last year, will bring the total number of foreign tourists to 13.4 million for the whole year or 17 per cent up from 2005. That will generate an estimated income of Bt450 billion, up 22.5 per cent from the same period last year which stood at Bt367 billion. Full Story
