Sonthi plans to visit Muslim countries

Chairman of the Council for National Security (CNS) Sonthi Bunyaratkalin is scheduled to visit Egypt and some middle-eastern countries later this year to explain the government’s efforts in solving the southern strife in a peaceful way, highly-placed sources said yesterday. During the trip, set for Dec 26-31, Gen Sonthi, who is a Muslim, would also attend the Haj, his first ever pilgrimage, in Mecca. Sources said the CNS chairman has sought meetings with heads of government of the Muslim countries during the visit. It will be his first official trip abroad after the Sept 19 coup that put into place the interim government, led by Surayud Chulanont. Full Story
