The pacific nation of Fiji is facing upheavel as the country’s military prepares to overthrow the government. Senior officers, under the orders of the head of the army, are laying out plans to uproot the government of Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase. The military has demanded the Government drop policies, which it describes as unjust, including an indigenous coastal rights bill, and another which will pardon instigators of Fiji’s 2000 coup.
