Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has said he needs several more months to begin disarming the powerful Shiite militias which US commanders say are the biggest threat to his country’s security. In an interview published Monday in the American daily USA Today, Maliki said he had formed a committee to oversee a political and military strategy to isolate and confront the militias, but that this would take time.
