Ten people were left dead after a fierce gunbattle between security forces and Islamic militants in Indian Kashmir ended with troops storming a hotel used for a rebel attack. Police said seven policemen, two militants and a civilian were killed in the 24-hour shootout in the heart of Srinagar, Indian Kashmir’s commercial hub and a hotbed of rebel activity.
