US attorneys announced they had filed an appeal to contest the detention of Majid Khan, one of 14 purported Al-Qaeda officials transferred in early September to a CIA prison at the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Khan, a Pakistani with several family members who moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the 1990s, was arrested in Pakistan in 2002.
