Philippine troops and Muslim separatist rebels clashed in the country’s south, leaving five rebels injured, as peace talks between the two sides remained deadlocked, the military said on Monday. Five Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels were injured in the fire fight on Sunday in Bugasan village in Maguindanao province, 960 km south of Manila, said army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Julieto Ando.
