As the United Nations Security Council looks increasingly likely to grant independence to Kosovo, Serbia’s government has adopted a new Constitution that asserts what it considers is its irrefutable right to the province. The Serbian Parliament voted overwhelmingly on Saturday to pass the Constitution, which includes a provision that defines Kosovo — currently administered by the United Nations — as an “integral part” of Serbia.
