HUNGARY’S embattled Prime Minister, whose admission that he lied to win April’s general election triggered street protests, has pledged to stay on and implement reforms after big losses in local elections. Ferenc Gyurcsany’s taped comments to a Socialist Party meeting, leaked two weeks ago, in which he said “we lied in the morning, we lied in the evening” have prompted sharp criticism from Hungary’s President Laszlo Solyom after Sunday’s elections.
