Kashmiri militant seeks pardon as protests mount

A general strike shut down many parts of Indian Kashmir on Friday in protest against the Oct. 20 execution of a Kashmiri man for an attack on the Indian parliament even as he decided to seek a presidential pardon. Mohammed Afzal had been sentenced to death for his role in the conspiracy to attack the parliament complex in 2001 and the Supreme Court upheld the conviction last year. Full Story
