SUPACHAI Panitchpakdi, Thailand’s former World Trade Organisation head, is reportedly in discussion with the military junta that seized power last week about accepting the post of prime minister. Coup leader General Sonthi Boonyaratglin yesterday refused to confirm that Mr Supachai, who now heads the UN Conference on Trade and Development, was returning to Bangkok for talks. “I have someone in mind but would rather not say it at this time – I will try to pick a prime minister as soon as possible,” he said.
