Yemen’s president on Sunday acknowledged “mistakes” in elections which gave him more than 77 percent of the vote but stood by his victory as the opposition rejected the results, alleging the numbers were “set in advance.” President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has been in power in this Persian Gulf Arab state since 1978, promised “we will rectify the mistakes of these elections in the next one.” Full Story
