The Vatican on Saturday expressed sorrow over the executions of three Christians in Indonesia. A Vatican statement said the Holy See had received news of the executions with “deep sorrow” and noted that it had asked the Jakarka government several times in the past two years to show clemency “on strictly humanitarian grounds”. The three militants were executed by a police firing squad early on Friday in Central Sulawesi province despite appeals from Pope Benedict and rights groups. Full Story
