Calls for calm in Taiwan after protests turn violent

Taiwan’s politicians appealed for calm the day after two protests against President Chen Shui-bian, who is under pressure to resign over a string of corruption allegations, turned violent. Shih Ming-teh, leader of the anti-Chen campaign, called for calm saying “violence would harm Taiwan. I’m the person who launched the campaign, and any people who are angry at this, please vent their wrath upon me.” Full Story
