Taiwan’s politicians appealed for calm the day after two protests against President Chen Shui-bian, who is under pressure to resign over a string of corruption allegations, turned violent. Shih Ming-teh, leader of the anti-Chen campaign, called for calm saying “violence would harm Taiwan.
