Saddam trial resumes in Baghdad courtroom
The trial of Saddam Hussein and six former commanders on charges of launching a genocidal campaign against Iraq’s ethnic Kurds in the late 1980s resumed in a Baghdad courtroom on Tuesday. Saddam, his cousin Ali Hassan al-Majeed, known as “Chemical Ali”, and five others face war crimes and crimes against humanity for their roles in the 1988 Anfal campaign — Spoils of War — in northern Kurdistan.
