U.K. envoy: Darfur options must be eyed

The international community should consider all options — including military intervention — as it mulls how to deal with Sudan’s rejection of a U.N. peacekeeping force for war-ravaged Darfur, a top British official said Monday. Also Monday, the United States drafted a Security Council resolution that would prolong a U.N. mission now in southern Sudan and could smooth the way for that force to take control of peacekeeping in the western region of Darfur from African Union forces.
