The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is ill prepared to coordinate a public- and private-sector response to a cyberattack against the nation’s critical infrastructure because of a lack of leadership on cybersecurity matters, lawmakers and security officials said last week. In response, DHS Undersecretary for Preparedness George Foresman said the agency was in the final stages of reviewing the credentials of a “very qualified” individual for the position of assistant secretary in charge of cyber-security affairs at the agency.
