Al-Beshir wants AU troops to stay in Darfur, says UN has ‘hidden agenda’
Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir said he wanted the African Union peacekeeping mission in war-torn Darfur to continue, accusing the UN of harbouring a “hidden agenda.” “The AU troops should continue their mission in Darfur and should not be replaced by the United Nations,” he said during a brief stop-over in the Senegalese capital on his way from Gambia to Cuba.
