Two people were injured in street clashes involving stone-throwing gangs and intervening Portuguese troops in East Timor’s capital Dili, an officer said. The violence took place near the presidential palace at around 8:00 pm (1100 GMT), said Lieutenant Helger Oliveira, who is among the Portuguese troops deployed in Dili to maintain calm since the city descended into chaos in May.
