Pakistani court convicts Shiite militant
A court Friday convicted a Shiite Muslim militant of organizing the bombing of a Sunni gathering that killed 39 people in 2004, and he was sentenced to death, lawyers said. Irfan Ali Shah, in his 30s, was found guilty of masterminding the bombing at a ceremony in the city of Multan celebrating the anniversary of a slain Sunni leader, said government prosecutor Najaf Ali Mahay.
