Somalia’s powerful Islamists have sent a high level delegation to meet the interim government at talks intended to defuse tensions between the two sides vying for authority in the lawless nation, officials said on Monday. Islamist leader Sheikh Sharif Ahmed arrived in the Sudanese capital Khartoum late on Sunday, the most senior Islamic figure to attend talks which have floundered over accusations and counter-accusations from both sides.
