Rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) yesterday afternoon ambushed and set ablaze an ambulance belonging to Kalongo missionary hospital. It had drugs and other medical supplies destined for Kalongo hospital in Pader district, the army said. Northern army spokesman Lt. Chris Magezi told journalists in his Gulu office the rebels opened fire on an ambulance UG 177M, at about 2:30pm. “About six medics who were on board jumped out of the ambulance and fled in the bush unhurt and were rescued by UPDF soldiers who were nearby. The rebels burnt the ambulance and looted some drugs,” Magezi said. Full Story
