Ivorian militias disarm peacefully but stir doubt
Pro-government militia fighters are disarming in the west of war-divided Ivory Coast, but the country’s U.N. disarmament chief has expressed doubts over the process, saying they are handing in fewer weapons than expected. Militias fought alongside government troops in some of the fiercest combat of the West African state’s brief 2002-03 civil war in which rebels seized the north. Full Story
