The government for the first time has begun permanently publishing on the Internet the level of threat that intelligence experts believe Britain faces from terrorist attacks. Officials have said the level has stood at critical since August last year, when the security services relaxed slightly in the wake of the deadly attacks on London transport on July 7 and an alleged bid to repeat them on July 21.
