At least 44 people were killed Tuesday in Iraq’s spiraling violence, including 20 soldiers whose bus was destroyed by a roadside bomb and 14 who perished in a car bomb attack in an upscale Baghdad neighborhood. The military bus was carrying about 35 Iraqi soldiers when the bomb exploded early Tuesday in Ruwashyid village, about 150 miles north of Baghdad, a police captain said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
